Portagr tree from cd help

i have untarred the portage tree from the cd, do i also have to untar the packages and distribution files from gentoo. to do this.

what line/ what line must be inserted to bootstrap from the untarred portage tree.

any help with be very grateful.

Do you have a working internet connection ?
If not, a "stage3 + GRP" installation of Gentoo is pretty much your only option.

If you want to bootstrap (install from stage1), the source-code for the packages needs to be downloaded. The CDs only contain precompiled binary packages.
