|
|
After some harddrive reworking and a Gentoo re-install, I'm unable to write to a particular partition. It's a Reiser3 partition, 55 gigs in size. Before moving and resizing partitions around, I could write to it with no problem. Now, any program that attempts to write to it locks up and can not be stopped. Ctrl+z, ctrl+c, kill, killall... nothing seems to work. This has happened with Kwrite, OO.org, echo text >> test.txt, touch, etc. Permissions are fine, and fstab options haven't changed since redoing the partition. I'm clueless... anyone have an idea? Destroying and recreating the partition would be rather difficult, as 22 gigs is somewhat hard to backup.. |

So, you can read from it ok, you just can't write to it - is that a correct understanding of the situation?
You're not getting any errors during boot up about the disk? dmesg have any errors?
I'm just pulling at straws... i have a hard time understanding that you can read, but not write to the disk.
How did you get the 22G on there in the first place? |

Yeah. Well, until I try to write from it, then I can't read from whatever directory I tried to write to.
