Hi Guys,
Iam building a hobby enviroment which i will use for hosting personal vm's.
It currently consists of;
VM Hypervisor
OS: Gentoo
Specs: Intel I7 2600, 32GB ram
Network: Intel PT Dualport gbit adapter
Storage server
OS: Gentoo
Specs: Intel core2duo 8400, 8GB ram
Storage: 6x 2TB raid6, 2x 256GB SSD (ssd's yet to be bought)
Network: Intel PT Quad port gbit adapter
Network infrastructure
Switch: HP 1810G-24 managed switch
Cables: CAT6a
What would be the best way to publish the storage to the hypervisor when keeping in mind I will be adding additional hypervisors soon (thus I would like to use the switch).
I've experimented with port trunking using balance-rr, with iperf i get good performance, but when testing by copying files using nfs the performance drops to below 1gbitps. (I used ramdisks as source and destionation to eliminate disk bottleneck). _________________ _ Got Root? _ |
