Hi!
Never tried love-sources, but I'm testing different 2.6-kernels at the moment, so I'll give it a try!
thx 4 your work! _________________ To err is human, to forgive, beyond the scope of the Operating System. |

hi lovechild, thanks for your kernel. It's produced an uptime that's been the highest i've ever gotten on my main workstation (2.6.0-test5-love1 29 days)
thanks a lot.. but soon I think i'll have to reboot to try a new kernel out! =) _________________ what up |

I've sucessfully patched the kernel with the reiser4 patch patch(didn't even see this on the thread until I was done). I had to fiddle the ebuilds I was using for reiser4progs to get the latest snapshot to compile, but otherwise it seems good.
BTW, anyone know the recommended mount options for reiser4?

I've just hacked the reiser4 patch to apply to test7-mm1, I'll have to test it and make sure it actually works, but I think I've ironed out all the compiler errors at least.
So if you want reiser4 in the next -love patch this might be a help.

Ditto, I'm working on it too. Although keep at it, if mine breaks and yours doesn't, we'll have a backup.
I (and I assume you as well) had to change a couple fs calls and there was a function type change... A bit worried about those.
I'm crunching other compile errors right now, not sure if it's from the reiser4 patch or not. |

I have to do some digging. It looks like there were removals made that result in the elv-select.patch referring to variables that don't exist.
Edit:
*scratches head*
Never mind... I should have gotten more sleep. :) |

Well my reiser4 patch compiles okay but it seems to have problems when you try to write to the file system, I also had to fiddle FS calls and I think thats what broke it (generic_write_check or whatever it was called). I'll give your attempt a shot and report if it has the same problems as mine does. Mine mounts okay but I get cp processeses that won't die even if I kill -9 them.
Feh.

okay, just tried test7-love1 and it seems to suffer from the same reiser4 problems as my patch did, namely the process freezing in the middle of an operation (patch, cp , whatever) and you can't kill the process or unmount the partition. I played extensively with the reiser4 patch for vanilla test7 and didn't notice this occuring once.
I'd try to track this down if I knew how to hunt kernel bugs, but alas I don't. I thought of enabling the reiser4 debugging stuff but I don't know how to look at it once its compiled into the kernel.

You should check out the test7-love1 thread. I replied to you there because I assumed you knew about it. ;)
I think I may have an idea for a fix. |
