Updaten to coreutils 8.20 runs configure into endless loop

Hi,

Background:
Gentoo on Beaglebone (new system install),
portage-20121211.tar.bz2
stage3-armv7a-20121116.tar.bz2
Natively compiling on the Beaglebone itsself.
No related modifications of /etc/make.conf beside
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~arm"

While emerge update coreutils to 8.20 the configure
process runs into an endless loop.
Last output I see is:

"checking whether getcwd handles long file names properly..."

I tested 8.19 of that package which does the same endless loop.

Searching the web shows a case of this three years ago on opkg
and seems to be opkg-releated for mee....

How can I circumvent this?
