Has anybody tried using genkernel ?
wow I have never seen so may insmod failures in my life
Just about every possible option that could be compiled into my kernel was,
as a module at that, including my intergrated intel pro 100 nic.
which was one of the insmod failures....
I would not recommend it unless you really cannot compile your own kernel
I tried it for time reasons and now I will pay the price......
My kernel was huge
Time to rebuild the good old fashioned way
you just can't beat a hand crafted custom kernel
just in case anybody was interested in trying it |

genkernel --config lets you configure is exactly as you want.
now if only I could figure out how to link it to a different kernel I'd be happy.... ck will not compile so need to go to gentoo-sources.
Edit:
IMHO the biggest bprice is a complete lack of documentation on it. |

I tried changing the symbolic link in /usr/src to the version of the kernel I wanted genkernel to use and it worked!
