I was looking for something new to do with my Gentoo laptop while waiting for KDE 3.2 to go to beta, and thought about the xfree development series. I think I might like to give this a try, but I would like to know what new features are slated for XFree86 4.4.
The XFree86 changelog lists a lot of changes, but I can't get an idea of what new functions are slated for the new version.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. _________________ I'm only hanging out in OTW until I get rid of this stupid l33t ranking.....Crap. That didn't work. |

I'm runnin it. Not much noticable differances except an improved xf86config. might be a bit faster, I cant tell. If you looken for someithing to break your sys, this ain't it. _________________ OH MY GOD! Kenny just killed Kenny!

running it too
only version of xfree that turns off backlight on my laptop correctly. very stable, won't brake anything.
What you really could try:
XOUVERT
Project to make xfree more modular and so on. Have a look at their mailing list, there is no official release yet |
