|
|
hi everyone.
problem: i can send using dcc, not receive
net setup: i connect through a hub to a
router and then to the internet. i use nat,
so i have forwarded ports 4990-4994 to my
lan ip and i have set irssi to use those
ports for dcc (dcc_port = 4990 4994) and
i have set my external ip in irssi as well
(dcc_own_ip = foo). i am not using a fire-
wall such as iptables, so that can not be
conflicting; even the firewall on the router
has been disabled.
this setup worked fine about a week ago,
but all of a sudden i can not receive from
people. i have used this setup for years;
sending and receiving through dcc using
windows and linux. so i know it can be
done, even though some would say that
it can not be done with a router.
irssi gives me the following message:
[network]DCC SEND from X [IP port foo]: foo
[foo kB]
[network]DCC can't connect to IP port foo
it does not matter which ports the user i
try to send to has configured for dcc; it
just says it can not connect to it.
any suggestions are very *very* welcome.
thank you for your time.
*update*
a bit ago, i switched to irssi-cvs since someone
recommended it to me. it appears that this cvs
version has a problem with dcc-sending for me.
i unmerged irssi-cvs, emerged irssi and it works
again. it was a long shot but i am glad i thought
of it before pulling out too much hair. sorry for
this unnecessary post, though perhaps others
with irssi-cvs are having the same problem and
are pulling out their hair as we speak. if so, i
hope they see this post.
