Hi guys, I suggested a way to easily make Gentoo index our forums, so everybody could benefit from the knowledge in the gentoo forums, including ourselves, as we all know phpBB searching isn't exactly optimal (try searching for nsteg - it doesn't give you the hits that are actually there :( - also exclude search - "this text in context" etc. are all stuff not supported.
see the original suggestion here: http://www.mail-archive.com/gentoo-user@gentoo.org/msg19936.html

Klieber replied that he wanted some code, to move on it - so here goes:
I have detailed what I belive should be enough here:
http://vsen.dk/simpleurls (incl. some code).

All feedback and improvements are ofcourse more than welcome :)

Hear hear! This would make searching the gentoo forums far easier if Google (for example) could index them. You'd just use the site:forums.gentoo.org with your query.

Why not do this?

I'd like to be able to read the search syntax. Some search examples might help, too.

I still can't get it to search for a string, for instance. I keep getting partial matches on the string, when I want the whole string to match.

Searching for "nsteg" finds both https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=82451 and https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=12046. What's the problem?
