How can I activate NumLock when the system boots or when I login?

That depends on how you login. But assuming you login to X somehow you need to emerge numlockx and either put it in you ~/.xinintc or select the "activate numlock on login" option in the control panel for whaterver de you use. |

How about if you do not log into X? |
