Help! I tried to install stage 2 gentoo linux and I cant reboot halt or startup because it cant find init files. what do I do? |

reboot from the live cd to find out what is going wron reboot from the live cd and chroot to the new system like before
mount /dev/hdxx /mnt/gentoo
mount /dev/hdxx /mnt/gentoo/boot
mount -t proc /proc /mnt/gentoo/proc
swapon /dev/hdxx
then check out youre /etc/init.d directory for fishiness
report back what you find
hmm did you use the install guide?
is it getting kernel panic cannot find init or tried to kill init some more info on what the kernel does at boot would be good too did you use genkernel or manual?
are you sure you edited youre fstab? specified the correct fs types and /dev/hd?
did you run any of the rc-update commands? |
