I am considering installing MySQL using a binary distributed by MySQL AB (http://www.mysql.com). Then all the pieces of MySQL will be where the MySQL docs say they are.
How does Gentoo MySQL differ from MySQL as distributed by MySQL AB?
The docs say that MySQL can be started at boot time using "mysql.server start". What do I put in "/etc/init.d" to do this? |

You can run anything from /etc/conf.d/local.start . |
