Per quanto ne sapete voi, xmms ha qualche baco/incompatibilità con kde?
Quando tento di leggere un file si congella... e devo fare un bel kill per chiudere il processo.

Anche a me succedeva la stessa cosa: io uso fluxbox e il plugin di output è alsa. Ho capito dopo varie prove che il problema era degli alsa driver (avevo messo la ver 0.9.7) e regredendo di versione (alla 0.9.2 che adesso è considerata stabile) il problema è sparito.

Anche a me da lo stesso problema (sia la vers. 1.2.7 che la 1.2. , ma solo con ROOT, con 'utente normale funziona benissimo...
Bho...se ti può essere utile ho kde 3.1.3 e ho provato sia con gli alsa 0.9.6 che con .9.7

Anche a me succede la stessa cosa,ho risolto facendo emerge xmms-arts
comunque il problema è far andare alsa con artsd,anche Mozilla Firebird mi dà dei problemi:
zuglio@Scrofina zuglio $ MozillaFirebird
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1078:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy
invece xine riesce ad utilizzare alsa..boh..

Sinceramente non saprei non ho mai approfondito... ho scoperto
questa cosa solo perche' non andava a un mio amico io non uso sound

No il device viene bloccato dal sound server, e per l'output devi usare quello.

non so se ti può essere di aiuto, ma io allo smau, con l'aiuto di un signore, ho scoperto un baco in xmms su suse 9 pre-relase. Infatti se creavo un file con kword e salvavo mentre andava xmms, mi diceva che kword era andato in crash. Lo so che era suse e pre-relase, ma non si sa mai che ti possa servire

Allora, avevo installato tutto (anche arts). Quando poi ho fatto l'emerge world, non so per quale motivo ha iniziato a bloccarsi.
Ho provato ad re-installare xmms, ma nulla, poi ho provato a fare il re-emerge di xmms e xmms-arts e arts. e meraviglie delle meraviglie ora funziona. Probabilmente qualcosa si era corrotto.
