Hi all,
I am copying my root directory to a ZFS pool. One thing I have noticed while rsyncing is that the Size column in df -h dereases for all but one of my data sets, even though they are all in the same pool, for example, df -h shows:
Code: |
/dev/root 454G 278G 153G 65% /
devtmpfs 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev
tmpfs 7.8G 968K 7.8G 1% /run
shm 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev/shm
cgroup_root 10M 0 10M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
/dev/sda2 485M 38M 422M 9% /boot
/dev/sda1 1022M 6.3M 1016M 1% /boot/efi
rpool/ROOT/gentoo 255G 37M 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo
rpool/HOME 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/home
rpool/HOME/root 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/root
rpool/HOME/dayd 457G 202G 255G 45% /mnt/gentoo/home/dayd
rpool/GENTOO/portage 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage
rpool/GENTOO/distfiles 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles
rpool/GENTOO/packages 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/packages
rpool/GENTOO/ccache 255G 128K 255G 1% /mnt/gentoo/var/tmp/ccache
|
After some rsynching
Code: |
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 454G 278G 153G 65% /
devtmpfs 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev
tmpfs 7.8G 968K 7.8G 1% /run
shm 7.8G 0 7.8G 0% /dev/shm
cgroup_root 10M 0 10M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
/dev/sda2 485M 38M 422M 9% /boot
/dev/sda1 1022M 6.3M 1016M 1% /boot/efi
rpool/ROOT/gentoo 253G 37M 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo
rpool/HOME 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/home
rpool/HOME/root 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/root
rpool/HOME/dayd 457G 205G 253G 45% /mnt/gentoo/home/dayd
rpool/GENTOO/portage 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage
rpool/GENTOO/distfiles 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles
rpool/GENTOO/packages 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/packages
rpool/GENTOO/ccache 253G 128K 253G 1% /mnt/gentoo/var/tmp/ccache
|
I would think that the Size in the left column would remain constant, the used would differ, and then Avail would just be Size-sum(used). Maybe I am just missing something about how ZFS reports disk space? Only one (rpool/HOME/dayd) seems to behave somewhat like I would expect.
Thanks for any insights anyone can shed. |
