I am using Intel 5100 wireless card, it is detected by the system as wlan0
wicd cannot detect any wireless networks
when i tried using iwconfig i got the ollowing:
Cannot read /proc/net/wireless
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.
any idea where I have gone wrong?
thanks |

With wireless-tools you have to enable the obsolete "cfg80211 wireless extension compatibility" (CONFIG_CFG80211_WEXT) in your kernel.
No idea whether there will ever appear a version of wireless tools which does not need it.
Perhaps wicd needs the same. |
