|
|
I'm trying to do my first install of Gentoo, but ran into some problems. I followed the instructions line by line so far. I'm doing a stage one install on an AMD tbird (1333).
I get to the part of stage1 where I run the bootstraping script... it runs for a while, then stops on
Code: |
sys-apps/portage-2.0.49-r3 to /
with the message
!!!! File is corrupt or incomplete. (Digests do not match)
>>> our recorded digest: <md5 hash>
>>> your file's digest <different md5>
!!! File does not exist: /usr/portage/distfiles//portage-2.0.49-r3.tar.bz2
|
Anyone know what that means? I tried running the script again and got the same error right away. Then I did an
$emerge portage
which ran for a while then quit there again.
I'm stuck. |

the compressed distfile of portage you've downloaded is different in some way from what it's supposed to be.
this could be caused by 1: the file is wrong or 2. the description is wrong
we'll try to fix both and hope that catches it.
first, remove all the distfiles you've downloaded:
Code: | rm -rf /usr/portage/distfiles/* |
then re synchronize your portage tree
