|

Hi all!
I'm having a strange problem with a usb hard disk, sometimes I can mount it, and sometimes not. I tried to plug the disk with the root session and the result is the same as a normal user.
No logs on dmesg or messages, no events. I have to reboot the system several times to get the disk working. I have not idea about the diferente between a reboot with the disk working and other than not.
I have tryied the disk in other computer and works perfectly since the first time, and in my lapton I can insert any stick usb and works perfectly.
My sistem works with ext4 and I tryied the usb disk with fat and ext4 and I have the same result.
Any ideas?

I have an external hard drive that likes to go away and come back. I'm pretty sure it's the USB cable. It can also be the USB port or the connector not being clean. I would try a different USB cable and also examine the USB connector on your external hard drive. Also, does this external drive draw power from your laptop or does it take an external power? If it's trying to draw too much power, I'm guessing that this can happen too. |

HI daniel,
The led on the usb disk is lighten, and the disk moves, but I'll try another cable.
Thanks for your quick answer.
