according to ALSA's driver matrix, it is not supported (at least with this name).

Try the openvortex site. (Linked from the ALSA driver matrix page for the AU8830, btw.)

I posted an ebuild for openvortex on breakmygentoo.net. It works well for me!

I was trying the ebuild you have posted... but i get the following error

emerge -p openvortex-cvs-20030922.ebuild install

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies \!!! aux_get(): ebuild for 'Desktop/openvortex-cvs-20030922' does not exist at:
!!! /usr/portage/Desktop/openvortex-cvs/openvortex-cvs-20030922.ebuild
emerge: create(): aux_get() error on Desktop/openvortex-cvs-20030922; aborting...

Am i doing the emerge incorrectly? I was in the directory where the .ebuld file is located. Any help would be great!

thanks

In your PORTDIR_OVERLAY directory, most likely /usr/local/portage you should make a subdirectory like media-sound. Extract the ebuild in this directory.

This will solve your problem.
