I already have a Gentoo system installed with 128MB of RAM. If I upgrade my RAM and add another stick or two of 128MB...do I have to make any configuration changes in my Gentoo system for it to recognize this extra RAM and make use of it?

none unless you are using more than 876mb?? or if you have a mem=xxx option added to your kernel then you don't have to do anything
