Not sure if I am posting in the right subforum or not but I have a problem that I simply cannot figure out how to solve. I have my gentoo system on a very high end desktop, lga2011 Rampage Extreme Mboard, i7-3960X cpu, 64gb ram at xmp profile running at 2400, gentoo on an ssd, gentoo vm running on it's own ssd via vmware workstation. The desktop runs superfast from the time of startup (gentoo guest is autostarted at boot) but as time goes by, the desktop slows down, browsing via any web app becomes unbearably slow, all desktop functions start to lag. If I run my desktop for days without starting a vm guest, all remains fine but when a guest is started, within 10-15hrs the problems start.
Does anyone else experience this? If so what have you done? _________________ Billy DeVincentis |

Solved this a couple of days ago, first I reran emerge --config vmware-workstation and the I also disabled any static ip adresses in my router for any virtual machines, That did the trick, I had a huge log file in /var/log/vmnetlib lots of errors. All better now _________________ Billy DeVincentis |
