I've been using awesome wm for some years now. It's my fav wm and I will never be satisfied with any other
Here is a screenshot of my laptop http://picpaste.com/screenshot-zllUXliL.jpg
I'm happy with a very basic layout and with a couple of carefully selected widgets and conky displays. |

I have lately tried awesome. Its name says it! Here it is my configuration file.
Coming form Fvwm, awesome has nice defaults and the possibility of using the Lua language. Nevertheless, I have found that if you divert from the defaults, your life becomes more and more difficult. I have finally returned to the Fvwm home and found the possibility of using Perl for pre-processing configuration files. I have tried it, and it is awesome!

I am using awesome with the default theme but edited my rc.lua a bit.
I am running xfishtank and my own backgrounds with feh. Gnome and kde dont like the xfishtank, but awesome does.
I have emerged love (not exactly a game engine) and hope to use its lua library for programming a remote dashboard for our i-MiEV (electric car).
Cheers
