irc consol prog

I've finally managed to get my NIC working and I'm emerging stuff as we speak. My question is, is there an irc prog I can use without having Xfree installed?

I recommend Irssi but there are also others available like BitchX.

I prefer irssi, although epic4 is also good. All my Debian friends swear that Blackened is "TheOne True IRC Client", but that doesn't appear to be in Portage. :twisted:

irssi is probably the easiest to use, so you might like to try that one first.

I checked BitchX but it wanted to emerge so much so I didn't know what to do since I just started emerging xfree. Emerged irssi now and it is quite suitable as a time-killer just this once

i still use irssi in X

it's one of the console based proggies you keep using once you get the hang of them
