Help...I have been trying to install Gentoo from the Iso i downloaded from the Gentoo site...The files read as: i686-1.4-20030911-cd1.iso and i686-1.4-20030911-cd2.iso.... I followed the installation guide step by step..All goes well till i get to Code listing 16.7 Compiling and Installing the kernel.... But when i get to this command: # make dep && make clean bzImage modules modules_install as instructed in the guide, i keep getting this message: make: No rule to make target 'dep'. Stop. I tried 4-5 times already but can't get any further...What am i doing wrong...Any guidance would be appreciated...
Thank you in advance...Skid |

did you cd to /usr/src/linux before executing make dep? _________________ Duct tape is like the Force. It has a dark side and a light side, and it holds the world together. |

Thank you, purpleplatyduck, i had not changed to the proper directory..
Either i missed it in the doc or there is no mention of it when you jump to Stage 3 directly... It is now compiling..I will see later on if all else works ok...Thank you again...
