Does your NIC work when you boot from the LiveCD ?
If your NIC is a Davicom DM9102 it should be supported by the "dmfe" module. |

Try booting from a KNOPPIX CD.
If this works and your NIC is supported, you can install Gentoo (search the forums for installing Gentoo from a KNOPPIX CD). |

I also have this card. However, it works for me under the gentoo livecd 2004.3. lsmod shows it to be using tulip and dmfe. on my gentoo box that I just installed from that livecd, I cannot get it to work though. I've got coldplug setup, and it decides it only needs tulip as a driver. I've also tried modprobing dmfe(along with tulip), no go. I've tried dmfe by its self(without tulip), no go.
I'm using kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r9, same kernel number as livecd, different release(2.6.9-gentoo-r1).
After one or both of these modules are loaded and I try to dhcpcd, I get the error "eth0: Tx timeout - resetting" written multiple times to dmesg.
Any leads greatly appreciated, rxKaffee |

turns out the problem is acpi management of the pci bus. pci=noacpi in grub fixed the problem |
