|
|
I just did emerge world. Everything on my system is up-to-date with portage.
However, now many icons in KDE are just missing. Files on the desktop just have the text describing them. In Konqueror FM - the same thing happens in icon view mode - all text files are missing icons, previews aren't working... In all other modes icons are displayed.
I've searched for display/view options that could do this - but cannot find them.
The *wierdest* part is that when I first run KDE, or first open a folder in Konqueror the icons are displayed momentarily - but then they disappear almost instantly.
What the heck could this be??[/img] |

Here is what I'm talking about if it is unclear.

OK I'm not getting any help anywhere - burden on me to ask better.
Does anyone know where ALL the KDE configuration files are stored? I deleted .kderc and and the .kde directory in my home dir and it killed the wallpaper and color settings - but icons were all still there and the icons without text were also there.
I then unmerged all of KDE - 2 hours later - and reinstalled and the config settings were all still the same.
Are there KDE setting stored elsewhere? Is there a resource somewhere on the web that tells where they all are?
Is there a resource anywhere that tells exactly what else I have to do to COMPLETELY remove KDE from a Gentoo box? |

then i search with KFind for *.png;*.xpm and found a lot of icons
the standaard kde icons are located in: /usr/kde/3.1/share/icons |

Whenever you upgrade or reinstall kde, it's always a good idea to rename your /home/user/.kde folder to .kde.old beforehand. In your case, since kde is already installed, you can rename .kde, and then reboot, and it will be recreated with brand new default configurations. This resets everything, and you have all your kmail, bookmarks, etc, saved in the old .kde, and you can transfer them back. This usually clears up many problems such as you are describing.
