Need a little help here. I can emerge things with no problem, however how to invoke them I'm not sure. For instance, I emerge netbeans, but then what do I need to do? Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

to run netbeans just type its name, "netbeans" at the command line. In general this is true for all apps, if you are unsure of the exact app name start typing it then hit tab twice, a list of all things that start with what you have typed so far will appear.

If you use kde then netbeans will appear under the development section on the kmenu.

You can also look at the files that were installed for the emerge, found at the end after installation is complete. Look for /usr/bin/programname, it's useful for certain apps, like eterm for example, which is loaded by typing "Eterm".

Thanks for the info. However, when I enter netbeans and hit enter I get "Cannot find JDK. Please set the JDK_HOME environment variable to point to your JDK installation directory, or use the -jdkhome switch." I don't know how to do this. When I type -jdkhome, I get "-jdkhome: command not found." I would like to understand what it is that I need to do. Thanks
