|
|
Okay... I've got the wheel mouse working on 3 other systems... This time it just wont cooperate.
excerpt from XF86Config:
Code: |
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
# Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "SampleRate" "100"
Option "Resolution" "300"
EndSection
|
Behaves the same with or without the 'Option "Buttons" "5"'
The 3rd mouse button works fine, but no scroll.
Any ideas? _________________ -vin |

You did restart X after changing XF86Config right? I only ask because a couple of my friends kept changing the config file without restarting X. Easy to forget sometimes |

A Logitech PS/2 Wheel Mouse.
Argh. This worked last week on the same system! Then I had to hose everything up and reinstall... _________________ -vin |

Is it a usb mouse? If so are you using it as such or do you have an adapter? |

Hmm... stupid question considering you answered it above.
I also have a Logitech mouse and the wheel is working. Although I did have to make a funny adjustment. I can take a look tonight when I get home. |

Or is it just scrolling up that's broken?
(I'm using Gentoo/PPC and scrolling down works fine, but scrolling up doesn't seem to generate any X events. Quite odd.)
(update)
Well, I rebuilt X 4.2.0 from source, and it works perfectly now. Someone in #gentooppc suggested that it might be that ebuild uses make -j2, which sounds possible to me. Oh well, at least it works now.

Did you follow vlad's how to? (Minus the usb stuff)
I think you should also save XF86Config as "XF86Config-4" (which is the one that my X loads) _________________ Gentoo and Doom III. 'Nuff Said.

Thanks!
After all my problems, it seems the renaming of the config file was all that was needed.
Stupid little detail
Full functionality at last! _________________ stuff is good. |

its all for naught - went back to 2000 on my laptop. too many problems with samba and cd burning, and not enough time to troubleshoot. oh well...

What about mandrake 8.2, or lycoris... Lycoris has samba and wine preconfigured. Don't ditch linux just because gentoo isn't working _________________ Gentoo and Doom III. 'Nuff Said.

oh dont worry, i'm not really 'ditching' linux - still using it at home on 2 machines, but for work, i really cant see using linux on my 'all purpose' laptop. When something dosent work with windows, it dosent take me long to get it to work, but if it dosent work with linux i'll be scouring groups for days... not my idea of usability. if it were my personal laptop, i'd keep linux on it, but i've got work to do _________________ -vin |
