I'm hoping this is a simple problem. My dualhead xfce/fvwm4 GUI (it's a laptop with xfce4-meta-4.10) has two screens, with :0.0 and :0.1 as the two screens ($DISPLAY variable). All that is working mostly perfectly; this is not a driver, X server, or display problem as far as I can tell. (I could ask for the ability to move windows from one monitor to another, a la Apple OSX, but that's a different topic And no, I don't want to have both monitors manage one big virtual screen, either.)
However, when I log in (I use x11-misc/slim 1.3.5-r1 but am not sure the login manager makes that much of a difference), I always get black title bars and have to use the Applications -> Settings -> Appearance on the second screen; the first screen is fine. (A little experimentation suggests that the settings affect both screens, so color me slightly puzzled. Why isn't the second screen getting the message?)
$HOME/.xsession-errors doesn't even exist, which I suppose is a good thing.
Exactly where should I start to debug/fix this problem? Has anyone else seen this? It's been bothering me for awhile now, although I can't say it's that high a priority.
Thanks in advance. |
