Hi everbody,

I have a STB Brooktree TV Tuner based on the BT878 chipset.
I have compiled on the kernel "video for linux" and "BT848 video for linux" (there in no 878 option, I guess it might work).
I have also compiled "I2C support"
I have emerged I2C and XAWTV.
When launching XAWTV, I got this error:

Code:

acura root # xawtv
This is xawtv-3.86, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.19-gentoo-r10)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

I dont have any v4l in my /dev/. How can I install this devices?

thanx all

ps : my tv tuner card work great with windoze xp

I usually only use what I2C the kernel provides, and not messing with the newer I2C you emerge. Maybe that is why xawtv isnt working.

Hi,

I have umerged I2C, but it still doesnt work. I have the same error message when launching XAWTV.

Do you know how can I get the /dev/v4l/video0 device? I think it might be the problem, because I dont have this file

Thx
