issues with m3mirror

I can't seem to get m3mirror working with my recent ppc-sources on my TiBook 400. The vga display doesn't mirror, but just shows some static black text messages on a white background starting with "copying of device tree...done"

However when I boot a 2.4.20-ppc-r2 kernel, I made a while ago, everything(shell & xwindows) with m3mirror seems to work ok. The thing is, I forgot what I enabled/disabled in that kernel (the kernel messages concerning the video chipset seem to be basicly the same). Maybe m3mirror doesn't work at all, with the newer kernels?

Can someone point me in the right direction?
