HI!
My amsn version 0.82 dosen't work anymore because micro$oft has changed the protocol to MSNP9. The new version of amsn can work with it, I have created the ebuild to install it (it isn-t in the portage tree), but when I try to run it says that requires base64. I have installed base64, but the problem presists. Could anyone give me an idea of what should I install to run it??

If you just untar the sources and go in to the msn directory that is created and execute ./amsn it will work fine. Then the problem is the ebuild, but at the moment I don't know what's wrong...
I'll keep trying... but at least now I can connect. _________________ There are only 10 kinds of people in this world. Those whose understand binary, and those who don't |

So does anyone have a bead on when the new version of AMSN will be in portage?
Code: | Bugzilla Bug 31231
amsn ebuild for amsn 0.83 supports new msn protocol |
It looks like the ebuild exists, just wondering how long till my gf can just: emerge sync ; ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge amsn
<OT>
Also.. on my machine, I'm interested in just downloading the new ebuild and merging it. What is the process of doing so? Do you just dump the ebuild in /usr/portage/net-im/amsn , and then emerge amsn?
How will it affect when I next do an emerge sync? I assume if .83 is still not in portage that it'll be deleted. But what if it does exist? If it doesn't match checksums will it be replaced? And what will it show that the version I manually downloaded needs to beupdated/is out of date?? or ?
Sorry for the newb questions on this... especially off topic. But I've wanted to do this before, but didn't want to have to rebuild the portage db.. *shrug* so I just waited.
</OT>
Thanks,
John |

Put the ebuild in /usr/local/portage/net-im/amsn/ (you may have to create the dir) and uncomment (ie delete the #) from the line in /etc/make.conf that says #PORTAGE_OVERLAY=/usr/local/portage and you're good to go. _________________ Want Free games?
