You know that you could easily just use equery(from gentoolkit) to find out what package a file belongs to. Otherwise, yes lib64/firmware/* comes from linux-firmware. Considering /lib is a sym link to /lib64 on mutlilib systems... |

Well, the alsa-tools part I could see where you could leave that out, assuming not having sound right away isn't an issue. The linux-firmware part may be necessary depending on what you have for hardware. If you don't have anything that needs to load any firmware, I'd drop it as un-necessary item. Even if you did some firmware, you shouldn't need to full linux-firmware package, just the files that you load. Otherwise, consider looking at some of the specific firmware packages to see if they provide the needed files. The linux-firmware is a compilation of most/all of the firmware, so has a lot of surplus that could be weeded out to save some space. |
