hi all,

Dunno whether the command killed the drive or the hard drive is in a bad shape itself.

I used this:

Code:
dd if=sdX bs=1M iflag=direct | dd of=sdX bs=1M oflag=direct

Nice command to extract maximum speed out of dd but it resulted in the below problems, ultimately disconnecting the drive : \

Code:

The interwebz has plenty of smart commands but how to pint point the info related to the problem? Or spot the info that would alert about the error? When I run smart command all I see is a bunch of numbers and dunno what they mean.

thanks.

update:

I see that specific blocks seem to be the culprit here,

Code:

Would it be possible to try to poke those blocks, you know, akin to touching a wound to see if it hurts, to confirm it's a hardware problem?

What does smartctl -a /dev/sdh return?
