I use uswsusp (Userspace Software Suspend) to put my laptop into hibernation instead of shutting down, because I'm too lazy to open up all my programs whenever I turn on the laptop.

One thing I noticed is that when I fully shutdown (instead of hibernating), Wake-On-Lan works perfectly. But when I hibernate, WOL no longer works, even though the LED light on the ethernet is on.

I had the same problem a while ago, and the solution was not to bring down the network interface.
Code:
/etc/conf.d/rc
RC_DOWN_INTERFACE="no"

Now with this new OpenRC, I'm not sure the same "RC_DOWN_INTERFACE" would work with "/etc/rc.conf". Please share your suggestions.

Apparently RC_DOWN_INTERFACE="no" doesn't work with "/etc/rc.conf". What worked was just bringing up the ethernet before hibernating even if I don't use it. Here is what happened.

I use WiFi most of the time with my laptop, and when I need to use WOL, I connect the ethernet cable and either hibernate or shutdown. Because I don't use the ethernet interface ("eno1"), I made it not to start automatically.
Code:
/etc/rc.conf
    rc_hotplug="!net.eno1"

Now, with that, WOL doesn't work when I hibernate.

But if I just bring it up before hibernating, WOL works.
Code:
ifconfig eno1 up
hibernate

Hope it help someone who has the same problem.
