hi,
is it safe to change the default stage3 CFLAGS in make.conf from

CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=armv7-a -mfpu=vfpv3-d16 -mfloat-abi=hard"
|
to
| Code: |
CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=armv7-a -mfpu=neon -mfloat-abi=hard"
|
as my board has the more powerfull neon FPU ???
And if this is safe, will this setting increase the overall performance of the system or should i stick with the current CFLAGS settings and should simply set the neon useflag in make.conf?

You can test this fairly safely.
Look through the /usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh script and make a not of the packages it builds.
quickpkg those packages, so you have binary tarballs. You can reinstall from these if the next stage goes wrong.
Edit your CFLAGS
Now run the /usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh script.
You need to run the script with no breaks as I'm fairly sure it does not support resuming.
If this works, you have just done a stage1
If it fails, | Code: | | emerge -K list of binary packages |
should reinstall your old binaries.
