Gentoo 1.4, Sony PCG SR-33 and the "ds" module

Hey boys and girls !

I have freshly set up mw little Vaio PCG SR33 with a Gentoo from the boot cd.

I have compiled the kernel with the full pcmcia support... ok
I shutdown, put my ethernet pcmcia card in the slot... ok

I boot on my HD using lilo... ok

While the kernel loads it tells:
"can't find ds module" or something equivalent.

Then, I log in... ok

And I the network works very well.

My question:
Do I need that ds module to have a functionnal Gentoo with pcmcia ?
And if yes, what's its task ?
