After upgrading to the latest stable kernel on x86 system network load balancing (http://lartc.org/lartc.html - 4.2.2) become unusable.
System have two internet connections and traffic is balanced over them. When upgrade was made from linux-2.6.36-gentoo-r5 to linux-3.10.7-gentoo-r1 there was strange things happening - traffic was partly lost. If we tried to open some webpage then it appeared only partly and if tried to reload it then it was never-ending loading. To get it back working we had to apply patch to sys-kernel/gentoo-sources which is found here: http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/#routes and now everything is working as it should.
(also without the patch if we leaved only one of our two gateways then everything was working correctly.)
The question is - maybe there is some other kernel source that should be used for gentoo router which primary task is network routing and it should be patched for load balancing.
or I have to include this in bug report because I checked latest available version (linux-3.11.6-gentoo) and it also has the same problem. |
