Hey how did you get AquaX to show up in your theme selector "available themes"? I've been trying to get it in there but to no avail. sorry can't help you there. try running sawfish and see if that helps - just an idea. |

Did you install gtk-engines-0.12 and gtk-engines-1.9.0?
I found both needed to be installed.
Also, you may want to try simply using gtk-theme-switch-1.0.1 for the gtk1 themes. |

In order for the "fancy" themes to work, you need to pixmap theme installed. This allows other themes to work. |

I did a search for emerge and got:
Code: | dave@Bodyjar dave $ emerge -s gtk-engines
[ Results for search key : gtk-engines ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]
* x11-themes/gtk-engines
Latest version Available: 1.9.0
Latest version Installed: 1.9.0
Homepage: http://www.gnome.org/
Description:
gtk2 engines |
So it would appear I need to install the older version 0.12
Is that the latest gtk-engines that supports gtk+1 themes?
How would I install this older version with emerge? |

Just emerge both, they'll install side-by-side.
The older version will install all the engines needed for gtk1 themes. |

I'm a total n00b, you'll have to spell it out
I've ran this
Code: | dave@Bodyjar dave $ emerge -p gtk-engines-0.12
These are the packages that I would merge, in order.
Calculating dependencies !!! Couldn't find match for gtk-engines-0.12; aborting. |
What should I type to emerge it? |

Go into the directory the ebuild is in, and just
Code: | emerge gtk-engines-versionyouwanttobuild.ebuild |
I believe its /usr/portage/x11-themes/gtk-engines
btw, the gtk-theme-switch ebuilds, for me, are the easiest and simplest ways to switch themes. You can emerge both versions side by side. The latest is for gtk2 the other is for gtk1. |

Pixmap is a gtk engine... afaik, it's part of the gtk-engines package (or whatever engines package is being discussed here)... basically, when you emerge that (version 0.12 anyway) you'll get pixmap. _________________ Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. |
