|
|
On livecd startup, it appears to detect my network card alright (eth0 detected, DHCP broadcasting for ip) and loads the appropriate driver (8139too).
However, when i dhcpcd eth0 or net-setup eth0 and select 1 at the shell prompt, it retrieves no information about the network that I'm on and ifconfig spits out only lo. I've tried manually setting my gateway/broadcast ip and that doesn't work either. Any ideas what could be amiss?
Thanks in advance. |

So are you trying to select DHCP or manually set it up?
Do you have a DHCP server availible on your network?
Are all your cables properly connected?
Have you tried manually configuring with ifconfig and route as per the installation docs?

That's not usually the way it's done. For example, my router is 192.168.1.1 and my broadcast is 192.168.1.255

What is your gateway and router's IP?
And is there anything out of the ordinary about your network set up?

I got it to work after setting it up manually yet again. This time it worked... why it chose to work (after I supplied identical values before) I dont know. |
