Hi all,

I just installed Gentoo 1.4 Stage 3. I followed through the install manual and did all the steps there.
Now I got several problems.

I used the gaming-sources kernel and emerged nvidia-net,nvidia-audio.ati-drivers.

Maybe someone can help me.

1.) When I run module-update i get this error:

depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-gaming-r3/kernel/drivers/netstarfire.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-gaming-r3/kernel/drivers/nvaudio.o

2.) I get this error message when I boot up:

Can´t locate module mousedev

3.) Then I found these errors in /var/log/messages

Oct 18 20:55:59 dirx pci.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver nvaudio
Oct 18 20:55:59 dirx pci.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver nvnet
Oct 18 20:55:59 dirx pci.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver ehci-hcd
Oct 18 20:55:59 dirx pci.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver usb-ohci
Oct 18 20:55:59 dirx pci.agent: ... can't load module nvaudio

4.) and finaly this one here:

Oct 18 21:09:54 dirx kernel: klogd 1.4.1, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Oct 18 21:09:54 dirx kernel: Cannot find map file.
Oct 18 21:09:54 dirx kernel: Loaded 147 symbols from 5 modules

Maybe someone has an idea what all this is.

I wiped my system and started over again.
This time I used the 2.4.22 vanilla-sources.

Besides the "tainted kernel" message, everthing looks fine so far.
Havent tried Xfree yet tho.
