Gentoo: http://i.imgur.com/e1Kj7wM.png
Ubuntu: http://i.imgur.com/JvcYQ0j.png
As you can see the fonts are better anti-aliased on Ubuntu than on Gentoo.
The default anti-aliasing settings on Ubuntu using unity-tweak-tool are:
Antialiasing: RGBA
Hinting: Slight
I run unity-tweak-tool on Gentoo and set the same settings, but as you can see the results differ, even font spacing is different.
How can I get the supperior font-aliasing on Gentoo? _________________ http://gplus.to/denysonique

You can try two things - try adobe-cff, or infinality in freetype:
Code: | ~» eix -e freetype
[I] media-libs/freetype
Available versions: (2) 2.4.11 ~2.4.11-r2 (~)2.4.12 ~2.5.0.1 [M]~2.5.1 [M]~2.5.2
{X (+)adobe-cff auto-hinter bindist bzip2 debug doc fontforge infinality png static-libs utils ABI_MIPS="n32 n64 o32" ABI_X86="32 64 x32"}
Installed versions: 2.4.12(2)(12:34:58 AM 07/31/2013)(X adobe-cff bzip2 infinality -auto-hinter -bindist -debug -doc -fontforge -static-libs -utils ABI_MIPS="-n32 -n64 -o32" ABI_X86="64 -32 -x32")
Homepage: http://www.freetype.org/
Description: A high-quality and portable font engine
| To mess around with infinality, you will have to try eselect lcdfilter and eselect infinality. I can't remember how to enable adobe's rendering.
Edit: Here is my desktop with infinality http://i.imgur.com/GXtTR7o.png _________________ emerge --quiet redefined | E17 vids: I, II | Now using kde5 | e is unstable :-/ |

Thank for the reply.
As suggest as well by other user on #gentoo-chat I installed Infinality and the font no looks much like the Ubuntu one with lcdfilter and infinality set to linux, ubuntu. _________________ http://gplus.to/denysonique
