Has anyone got any recommendations for the best hypervisor supported under Gentoo? Is Xen or KVM better supported/documented and have you had any experiences in using them both? I'm really keen to also understand the support of virtualization tools, like libvirt, for both of them and how they compare and which one is more advanced. I'd like to understand furthermore which of the hypervisors are updated more freqently under Gentoo, eg. follow upstream development rather closely or not. I'm looking for a hypervisor well suited to desktop environments, so I'm also interested in features/support for SPICE, SDL, and so on.
Many thanks for any hints and advice. |

I can recommend Ganeti as a tool and kvm as hypervisor. Relatively good documentation, very nice (google stuff based ) community, fast development and it seems they are not finishing on simple things. Maybe google is more interested than we think.
Ganeti is not optimized for single server usage and it is cli only. But still easy to start with and in my opinion extremely effective which is why I use it. |
