|
|
Ive read a lot documentation about fish// and sftp over shh and tried to log in remotely in one of my boxes by typing the appropriate protocol and adress in konqueror adress bar, but i cannot access my files remotely.
I am not using kde as my DE but openbox and i emerged kioslaves. What do i need to enable or configure to get this to work? do i need a sftp server on each machine? |

As per the fish: and sftp: documentation, you need to be running an SSH daemon on each target machine.
Note those colons - fish://foo.bar should connect to the SSH daemon on foo.bar; fish//foo.bar (as you wrote, probable typo) is just gibberish. _________________ Greybeard |

I get this on the remote machine screen when i try to sftp
unix_chkpwd password check failed for user
means there is some signal going from box a to b but auth fails , maybe i need sshaskpass.
got a konqueror popup that asked about accepting the rsa key (same text as a first ssh connection) but i still does not work.
Will try emerging and configuring configuring vsftpd. |

Of course the user you use needs an account on the target machine. If you simplly write "fish://foo.bar" you attempt to login with you current user account on the "konqueror side".
If there is no such user you must use "fish://existing_user@foo.bar". existing_user actually must exist on the target machine. |
