Hi.
I've been using parcellite for years. But, since I am already fed with its set of annoyances (for example, its complete uselessness when it comes to libreoffice) I was wondering if there's something new out there.
I've used klipper in the past. I'd like to avoid it because that would mean starting a lot of kde services from the beginning (using openbox right now). I have nothing against kde services, I use dolphin when I need some decent GUI file manager, but I'd rather prefer not to launch these from my .xinitrc.
The main feature I need is sync'ng the X and copy/paste buffers. Besides that, having a menu tied to a keycombo to select the item you want to paste is also nice.
If you have some suggestion, either from portage or an overlay, please, let me know.

Are you aware of the parcellite fork ClipIt?
Also take a look here for more recommendations. |

you reminded me why i was using that garbage in the first place. gnome, where i couldnt use
xfce-extra/xfce4-clipman-plugin
that got me hooked on them in the first place. apparently xclipboard is an xorg implementation of this idea.
this is how i found parcellite....

Hi, I use parcellite and I did not noticed a problem with libreoffice. Could you tell a bit more about it. Every clipboard utility has its drawbacks and parcellite is one of the best I think. And it seems the development again active. Maybe we can file bugs.

Thanks for the link. There seems some new clipboard utilites.
It seems ClipIt is abandoned. On the home page it is written "ClipIt has been halted" The last release is from 2012-04-04.
On the other hand parcellite-1.1.7 is released on 2013-10-15. And their svn repo seems actively used.
I am wondering, too, if there is something new and usable.
Note:
CopyQ seems to be very good. Let's see if we have an ebuild.

If anybody is interested, I created an ebuild for CopyQ in b.g.o. It seems to be a great clipboard utility being multi platform as a bonus. It is the most advanced one I used.
I suggest adjusting these in preferences:
[*]System Shortcuts -> Show/hide main menu: "CTRL+Alt+V" or something like that to access clipboard contents.
[*]Check the "Paste to current window" option in History.
I am impressed

I've been using it for years, however it always had problems with open and libreoffice. I think it's only with formatted text. Concretely, the other day I was having issues with localc, which to sum up were of the kind: I copy text, then paste garbage.
I am still looking around. Clipit however has been serving fine these past few days. It inherited somoe rought edges from parcellite though
ps. By the way, that copyq thing seems nice. I'll check it out as well. |
