You can make your menus transparent if you are running a recent version of fluxbox (0.9.2 or above) by changing the "Menu Alpha" value in the configure menu. 255 = Opaque, 0 = Invisible (completely transparent). A value around 160 seems to satisfy most people.

where can i change menu alpha and where can i do all this stuff??

First, you have to be running fluxbox 0.9.2 or above. This is currently masked; you'll have to
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" to install it. For example,
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge fluxbox

Once you're up and running in fluxbox, rightclick on the root window and navigate to Settings->Configure (actually, that's
for 0.1.xxxx; they may have moved it around, but it should still be easily found) to find the mentioned "configure menu."

It should be in fluxbox -> configuration, or something close to that. If you don't have a config menu, run fluxbox-menu-generate (I think that's the name).

DMP: You need to use the development version in order to have transparent menus. The Stable releases are named 1.x while the development versions are named 0.9x. To install the latest development version you need to use the following:

Code:

emerge /usr/portage/x11-wm/fluxbox/fluxbox-0.9.6_pre9.ebuild

Roguelazer: How did you set your background? That sometimes affects the transparency

:-P :-)
after you've generated your menu, you will have to reload your config - either by restarting fluxbox, or using the lamer function "Reload Config" :-)
