Hi!

Have you ever downloaded files using xdcc bots in irc? Well, it's a great and fast way to get files.
The only problem is:
Using xchat2 dcc transfers are really a pain in the *****... connecting to the server, joining the channel, asking the bot, etc.. this is just a waste of time.

Isn't there a way to automate this process? I'd really appreciate any help.

Thanks :)

Since ridding myself of windows on my machine forever, i use irc xdcc for almost everything i used to download off p2p, i haven't tried any p2p programs on linux yet and i don't really intend to, p2p is always an ongoing battle of copyright, but anyway.

I use some sort of search engine to find out what is available to download (eg. www.ircspy.com), but it still is quite a task connecting to servers and channels to download off someone, a program that integrates an xdcc search engine with a simple layout to automate what you download would be rather spiffy.

yes, rather spiffy.

Hi!

Yesterday I've started writing a small irc bot using clanlib 0.7.5..
It basically connects to a server, joins a channel, and loggs all xdcc packages offered, including detailed information about it.
Though nice, it's quite unusable if you aren't a developer atm.

But i try to create a nice fltk gui for it, where you can connect to multiple servers, and search for files+download them using clanlibs dcc class.

Are you interested in something like that? I'm not sure whether i really shall do it.. it would be a lot of work just for a wa.. eh, leecher tool

My friend wrote this nasty little program in C#, frontend provided in GTK# for Linux and the native toolkit for Windows I believe.

It's a work in progress, but CVS now supports correct queuing he tells me.

www.ircleech.com

Requires Mono 0.28 and GTK# 0.11 (just copy over ebuild I did that).

I know X-Chat has some scripts for this, although I haven't had a chance to use them yet. IRC is indeed a great place for filetranfers though. Especially if you use something like www.packetnews.com to find stuffs.

I think the following scripts might be helpful to you, although I haven't had a chance to test them. I'm not 100% sure about the first one, but the second one sounds right on. Let us know if any of these work for you.
