|
|
Hello!
I've installed the new 2.6-test-6 kernel. It works like a charm except one thing. When I boot the system, my kernel says:
Failed to calculate dependencies!!!
Or something like that, I don't know what was the message exactly. And it puts this -> [!!] in red to the end of the line. Usually it does this, when something is wrong. Anyway the system runs good, except apache. Because it complains about something with the dependencies again. It worked fine until my comp. started to print thos annoying messages mentioned above.
So my question is that where is the boot log, and the log files usually in
gentoo, because I couldn't find anything usable in /var/log???
How could I fix this problem?
Ventrue
PS.: Tell, me if you need some information, and I'll give it... And thanks! |

Did you run update-modules? From what this sounds like its just modules not updated. By the way, test8 is already out, give that a go and see if that helps. |

I know this is obvious, but did you forget to run the following?
Code: | make modules modules_install |

Did you check if you have a directory
/lib/modules/2.6.0-test8
as well as /usr/src/linux being a soft link to /usr/src/linux-2.6.0-test8?? |

Yes, I have that directory...
Should I look for something special in it? |

Do you have the file
/lib/modules/2.6.0-test8/modules.dep
If not, you could try to run
/sbin/depmod -v 2.6.0-test8
which should generate it. |

Thank you so much dude!
It helped!
After /sbin/depmod -v 2.6.0-test8 I had to regenerate the modules.autoload-like files to create them automatically. Now it works like a charm... |
