Hi.

I am looking for an sqlite frontend that will allow free edition of large tables, in a spreadsheet fashion or the like. I have been using the seamonkey/firefox plugin, and it's good for most purposes, but this time I truly can't go editing each record in a window because that would be daunting, and this can' be scripted via sqlite.

Plus for some reason, lately when I use that plugin seamonkey goes 110% cpu usage, so it's going the way of the dodo.

I have tried sqliteman and sqlitebrowser, both in portage, but can't really get the hand of them. Sqlitebrowser just can't even edit the tables because of some silly error about default values in a field (yes, I tried doing what it tells me to do and still fails the same), and sqliteman is rather complex for the little it can do.

I can't believe there's no straight sqlite GUI editor in Linux

So if you know some other, please, let me know :)

That "diabolic beaver" looks friendly enough  (I'd never thought I'd say that about a java program).

But for some reason it refuses to open my sqlite file.

First, it detected that no driver was available for sqlite files, but it offered to download it itself, and the driver installed without problems. However, when I try to test the connection (or open the db at a later stage), it gifts me a window saying that an "unexpected driver error ocurred while connecting to the database". When I press the details button I get little more detail:

Quote:

Unexpected driver error occurred while connecting to database
org/sqlite/NativeDB
org.sqlite.NativeDB

I'll have to investigate that. There's nothing in the little faq they have, so I guess I'll start checking their MLs or something.

Anyway, thanks for that suggestion, I had never heard of it :)

On a first look, it seems it supports sqlite (I wouldn't have though that, so it was a surprise).

I'll check it, provided that I can emerge it without all the pim stuff. Thanks!

Should you need support/further info, I have found the dev(Jarosław Staniek) to be very responsive on the kde forums and kexi has its own category under office

I think I'll need it, yes.

Kexi fails to open the db as well, telling me that it was created with some other tool and that it couldn't find the kexi_I_dont_know_what table or something like that. If kexi really taints dbs like this, it's gonna be a no-go-at-all :?

SQL Workbench supports SQLite. I'm pretty sure LibreOffice Base does as well.

Lobase supports odbc connections, which is an entirely different thing. I just want to edit a little file that lives on my hard drive. I'd rather hack something quick with qt than deal with that kind of crap. If lobase can dirdctly edit .sqlite files, please let me know how.

I'll check the workbench though. Thanks for the suggestions ;]
