XFree 4.3 stürzt ständig ab

Folgendes Problem:

Nvidia GeForce 2 und XFree 4.3

Der X-Server startet anstandslos, aber wenn ich jetzt versuche auf eine Konsole (Alt+Strg+1-6) umzuschalten oder mich aus einer laufenden XSession abmelde, schaltet der Monitor auf ein komplett schwarzes Bild um und der ganze Computer hängt. Hab auch schon verschieden Einstellungen für den Nvidia Treiber in der XF86config geändert aber hat nix gebracht.

Hab alle einstellungen für die Option "NvAgp" durchprobiert, Fehlanzeige.

Hat jemand ne Idee?

Nur mal zum Eingrenzen des Problems: Taucht das Problem auch beim klassichen "nv" Treiber auf? Wenn ja, spricht das eher für ein Framebuffer-Problem.

ich habe bei mir ein ähnliches Problem... wenn ich die KDE beende um den Rechner auszuschalten, bleibt der Rechner mit schwarzem Bildschirm stehen.

Dell D600, ATI Radeon 9000 ohne ati-driver.

Das Problem tritt bei mir allerdings nicht immer auf... hängt vielleicht irgendwie mit arts oder sonstigen Prozessen zusammen.

gute frage, werde es heute abend ausprobieren. Aber ich glaube mich zu entsinnen, dass es das gleiche prblem auch mit "nv" gab. wenn es ein framebuffer problem ist, wieso ist es dann unter suse 8.1 mit framebuffer und nvidia ohne probleme gelaufen?

Hy,

hab jetzt die kernel mal ohne Frame Buffer Support übersetzt und erhalte trotzdem das selbe ergebnis.

Also, bisheriges Resultat:

"xfs-source 2.4.20" mit und ohne "Framebuffer Support" sowie mit "nv" und "nvidia" mit "NvAgp "0-3" haben keine Änderung gebracht. Der PC hängt sich nach wie vor nach dem ausloggen aus einer X-Session bzw. runterfahren oder rebooten aus einer X-Session mit einem Schwarzen Bildschirm auf.

Verstehe das nicht...

Hat jemand Rat?

Ich hatte das Problem früher auch mal (als ich noch eine NVIDIA-Karte in meinem Workstation-Rechner hatte)
Ich hatte mich damit beholfen auf die Konsole zu wechseln und von dort aus runter zu fahren
Ich weiss, keine (vernünftige) Lösung, aber nur so als Tipp

so,

hab nun die schnauze voll und hab die 2.6.0 kernel ausprobiert und die läuft ohne probleme.
X hängt sich nicht mehr auf und mein pc ebenfalls nicht. Das Problem konnt ich nicht mit der 2.4.* kernel lösen. Falls jemand doch noch ne idee hat bitte bescheid sagen.

jap, der kernel ist schon recht gut. aber was auf jedenfall noch rein muss ist ein bootsplash patch, welchen es ja leider noch nicht gibt.

Habe da aber mit jfs in test5/6 schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht. Erst hatte
ich keine Berechtigung mehr auf einzelne Verzeiche und Dateien (als root und ohne acl) und später hat das jfs fast alle Verzeichnisse und Dateien vergessen und fsch.jfs meinte, es ist alles ok im Filesystem.

ich verwende die 2.6.0-test8 mit xfs und reiserfs und läuft ohne probs, versuch doch einfach mal die test8 variante.
