Ok... just got past the grub problems I was having.. thanks to the guys that posted comments that helped me fix it.
Now, when the system boots (or trys to) into gentoo I get this set of errors:
Quote: |
* Checking root file system
modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ROOT
modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ROOT
modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ROOT
modprobe: Can't locate module /dev/ROOT
fsck.ext3: No such file or directory when trying to open /dev/ROOT
/dev/ROOT:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and really contains a ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock.:
etfsck -b 8193 <device>
* Filesystem couldn't be fixed. :( [ !! ]
Give root password for maintenance
(or Control-D for normal startup): _
|
Pressing Control-D unmounts the filesystem, and reboots the system.. which soon brings me back to the error :p
Any ideas?

You apparently forgot to set up your /etc/fstab file. If you enter the root password, it might continue booting to some extent, and if you can log in, you can "nano -w /etc/fstab" and fix it. Check the install guide for more info. |

Actually.. I did edit it, just forgot to save changes... :/
Anyway... edited the /etc/fstab and set it as follows:
# <fs> <mount point> <type> <opts> <dump/pass>
/dev/ROOT / ReiserFS noatime 0 1
But still get the errors... after that, I press Control-D and it lets me boot on and loogin.
Something still misconfigured about it? What opts and dump/pass should I be using for ReiserFS? Since this isn't /BOOT I didn't specify the notail option. _________________ :: d3bruts1d ::

You have to replace /dev/ROOT by the hard drive partition which contains your
/ filesystem, e.g. /dev/hda3 or whatever you specified when you did
the initial partitioning of your system. |
